Alicante Central Market is a building with elements of modernist inspiration. It was built under the direction of J. Vidal Ramos between 1911 and 1912, on the wall of the 18th century that surrounded Alicante. It consists of two floors, one of them in semi-basement, due to the slopes of the surrounding streets.
The main facade is presided by a large staircase framed by two projecting bodies and has different decorative elements. The rear facade is located on Plaza 25 de Mayo: it receives this name in honor of the more than 300 victims that were claimed by the bombing suffered by the Central Market during the Spanish Civil War, on May 25, 1938.

This monument is located in the city center and offers a wide variety of gastronomic products. The first floor offers a variety of seafood and vegetables, and the second floor offers meats. There are also many snack shops, where you can follow some local tour guides to try local foods.

Although it is called a market, it is very modern. You can use cash or bank cards to pay for your goods at any stall.
