The Alicante-Elche airport is located 10 kilometers southwest of Alicante. Due to the large number of tourists in Alicante, it is also the busiest airport in the Valencia region. There are several options to get to the city center or San Juan beach from the Alicante airport:

  • The easiest way: taking a taxi. There is a dedicated taxi passenger area just outside the Alicante airport, where you can queue up and easily get a taxi. The taxi driver will help you put your luggages in the car and it doesn’t matter if you don’t speak Spanish, you just need to show the driver the location on Google Maps after getting on. It usually takes about 20 minutes to get to the city center of Alicante, and about half an hour to get to San Juan beach from the airport.
  • The most affordable way: Airport Express Bus. You can find the Airport Express Bus in the airport bus area, with a frequency of one bus every 20 minutes. The Airport Express Bus runs between the city center, port, train station, bus station, and airport. The fare for one trip on the Airport Express Bus is 3.85 euros. You can get off at the Plaza Puerta del Mar stop (port), which is the city center of Alicante. From there you can also transfer to Tram line 5 which will take you to San Juan beach.
  • The most flexible way: renting a car. There are many car rental companies with counters at the Alicante airport. You can easily book a car on your phone and pick it up in the airport parking area. In fact, during the summer tourism season, many visitors choose this option, so make sure to book in advance.
  • The most fitness way: biking. If you have a bicycle, you can even choose to bike to Alicante. The distance from the airport to the city center is about 12 kilometers and it takes about one hour. Of course, this option is best if you don’t have too much luggage and are physically fit.

Most tourists choose the Airport Express Bus because it allows them to reach the beach with the least amount of money and in the quickest time. We have prepared detailed information on the Airport Express Bus, please refer to it.
